We got up around 5:30 in the morning. Bob started breakfast while I took down the tent. We had to completely change our mind set and set new expectations about the miles we would be able to travel. We met Matt and his daughter Ellen who are also traveling the Katy Trail. We ended up camping with them in New Franklin at the roundhouse. During parts of the trail it is very desolate. There were no people or towns. We crossed the Missouri River and that was Amazing. The trail seemed much more compacted and easier to ride on after the river. Yay! We rode 43 LONG miles. The weather was 80 degrees and sunny. I have riden a century which is 100 miles in the same amount of time it took us to ride 43 miles today! May 28, 2017
