We went 45 miles today and went over the Continental Divide again. As we took our lunch break we were looking at the Rocky Mountains. Beautiful! Bob saw his first tumbleweed tumbling. I was following Bob down a hill and there were grasshoppers all over the road. They were jumping and hitting me in the face and all over. Bob was trying to talk to me and I wouldn't answer because I didn't want to open my mouth for fear a grasshopper would go in! They were landing on me and hitchhiking. As we were going up a climb there were flies all around. They were really starting to bother us. Then a diesel pickup truck went around us and blew his black smoke on us. I'm sure he meant to do this but it worked out great for us because it made the flies disappear. When we got into Twin Bridges, we stopped for supper. A real live Rancher, who saw our sign, came in and talked to Bob a while. His name was Bob, he was 88, and he had just had bladder cancer surgery. He was very happy to talk to Bob and even gave us some money. Later the waitress came over, who has worked at this restaurant for 3 years, and talked to the rancher every day and she didn't know anything about his cancer. She was shocked that this man had spoken to us. We stayed at a bikers only camp that night. There was a guy there named Mark who was from the Czech Republic. This was a neat place because it was just for bicyclist. There was a shower and restrooms. The wind was very strong so we set our tent up inside the building.
